#Vital wave of APTS demonstrations explodes

This week, hundreds of APTS activists turned out to demonstrate, calling for fair and equitable treatment in this difficult period. Demonstrations were organized around the province, including some in Montréal, the Montérégie, Gatineau, Québec City and Val-d’Or.

Our actions are producing results

Things are changing, thanks to our members’ strong turnout in demonstrations and to the efforts of our labour relations teams to bring management on-side. A number of health and social service institutions and three integrated centres have pledged to honour our members’ vacation schedules. Other discussions are underway and demonstrations will be taking place next week in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Outaouais region and at the CHU de Québec and the CIUSSS Centre-Sud de Montréal. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in our actions. Members’ mobilization is vital.

Flash meeting with Legault

A welcoming committee formed by APTS members and our FIQ allies was waiting for Premier François Legault when he arrived at the CIUSSS de l’Estrie. In a brief discussion, our representative from Estrie, Marc Richard, stressed the importance of vacations for our members who have reached a point of exhaustion in this pandemic. He also called on the government to grant due recognition for the hazards faced by our members, who are still excluded from receiving hazard premiums.

In the media

In a televised interview on Ici RDI (Radio Canada’s special news channel), our president, Andrée Poirier, outlined the deplorable conditions in which some of our members are forced to work after being redeployed to CHSLDs.
